"Movement was where I began. Understanding the whole person is where it led me. "

I have spent much of my life learning about movement, health and the body.

About Cindy

As a professional dancer I developed a deep understanding of movement, discipline and physical expression, but it also made me curious about how things could affect how we feel and function.

After retiring, I went on to get my certification in classical Pilates with Dianne Miller at the Vancouver Pilates Centre, where I stayed to teach for over four years. I received my holistic nutrition certification through Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in 2009 and began exploring ways to better support the whole body. My training continued in traditional Chinese medicine at Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine where I became a registered acupuncturist, practicing now since 2016.

My professional and personal journey has shaped how I work today. I’ve learnt that movement is just as important as nourishing the body with whole food, sleeping well, managing stress, taking care of our emotional wellbeing and finding purpose in life. It’s about supporting the changing stages of our life.

The Approach

Where Western movement meets Eastern holistic health

"This is not about pushing the body harder or expecting it to perform as it did twenty years ago."

Midlife Vitality bridges the gap between functional Western medicine and movement, and Eastern holistic health.

It pairs restorative, strength-building, low-impact Pilates and movement with holistic nutrition and traditional Chinese medicine wisdom. Together, these practices can help calm the nervous system, support muscles and joints, protect your essence and cultivate a life with purpose.

It is about understanding what your body needs now and moving in ways that build strength without depletion.

Strength is not simply how much you can lift or how hard you can exercise. It is feeling capable in everyday life. It is having the mobility and confidence to remain independent, participate in your communities, enjoy the activities you love and continue showing up for the people who matter to you.

Looking ahead

The work we do now shapes the years ahead

Active aging means caring for yourself before the pain, disease or illness sets in and forces you to pay attention. This can begin at any age.

For me quality of life means waking up each day feeling good in your body and having the energy and focus that keeps you growing, learning and sharing with others. It requires commitment and dedication to help build the kind of life you envision.

The bigger picture

Midlife is about more than hormones

There is so much conversation about fixing hormones, as though menopause is an illness to recover from. Hormonal changes matter, but they are not the whole story of a woman’s health or life.

In traditional Chinese medicine, menopause is described as the "Second Spring".

Rather than viewing menopause as a decline or loss, it can be a time to care more deeply for the body, support the spirit and mind, and cultivate greater wisdom and intuition.

I believe midlife is a stage of life that deserves to be celebrated. It can bring another level of consciousness and a deeper connection with nature, community and what genuinely matters to us.

Celebrating midlife does not mean that every part of it is easy.

Women may also be living through grief or loss; be it the loss of people or family, a change in physical ability, a changing role or identity, or the loss of who they once understood themselves to be. These experiences are rarely included in conversations about menopause and healthy aging, but they can profoundly affect how we feel in our bodies and how we move through life.

There should be room for both. We can acknowledge what has changed or been lost while still recognising the life, possibility and purpose ahead of us.

The Intention

Why I created Midlife Vitality

"There is so much life still to live. We should be able to approach it feeling informed, capable and supported, with a community beside us. "

I created Midlife Vitality because I love supporting women and sharing information that can help them care for themselves with greater understanding.

It is a place for eating well, moving well and living well. A place where women can take part in supportive movement, access useful health information, explore holistic perspectives and connect with others moving through their own stage of life.

You do not need to punish your body, follow another restrictive plan or have everything figured out.

Work where you are, begin with what feels manageable and build from there.

My hope is that Midlife Vitality helps women age well, remain active in their own lives and feel genuinely excited about what is still ahead.
